Biography

VE9UNB is the University of New Brunswick (UNB) Amateur Radio Club. The club QTH is Fredericton New Brunswick, Canada. The club's radio shack is located in Head Hall, part of the engineering building, with an antenna farm on the roof of this building.

The regular call signs used were VE1RK, starting in 1948, and VE1UNB, starting in 1968; since 1994, VE9UNB and VE9YFC are used. Some special event call signs were used between 1977 and 1993, CT1UNB, CY1UNB and CZ1UNB. In 2015 and 2016, for Thinking Day On The Air events, the call sign VE9GGC was used with the Fredericton Amateur Radio Club.

VE9UNB is active on HF, VHF, and UHF. The club is grateful to UNB for providing an antenna site, power, and internet access, for the VE9FTN DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) repeater, on the roof of McLeod House. VE9UNB is continuing the tradition of amateur radio at the University of New Brunswick into the 21st century.
