Biography

I'm an amateur radio operator originally from Serbia, who moved to Germany. I'm in Serbia mostly for vacations, so I'm not very active with my Serbian callsign.

Got my license in 2014, and moved to Germany in the same year, to continue my studies in the field of digital telecommunications. During this time, I was active using hand-held radios on 2 m, 70 cm and CB from time to time.
In 2016, I got my German callsign DM1NKA, and an IC-2730E. At that time, I mostly operated portable from parks, using a small lead-acid battery.
In 2017, I finished my studies, got a real job, and purchased a linear power supply and IC-7300. At the same time started my struggle with antennas. I tried out various types of dipoles and end-feds, but I never managed to get any of them working to my satisfaction. As a result of that, and very high noise levels, I would mostly do FT8, and SSB only when I'm portable.
In 2019. I got my IC-9700 and started exploring SSB world on higher frequencies a little bit.
In 2021. I passed tests for marine radio licenses, for MF/HF/VHF and satellite on sea, and VHF on European inland waterways. On HF, I also started getting good results using telescopic vertical antennas with coils in base.
In 2022. I got tired of manually adjusting coils in my vertical antennas, and started experimenting with auto-tuners at antenna feed point. I got an Icom AT-141, modified it for amateur use, and finally got an antenna system with which I was satisfied. Near the end of the year I also purchased an AH-730, so I have one auto-tuner in Germany and one in Serbia.
In 2023. during April and May, my company sent me to temporarily work from Serbia, so I finally had a chance to make a larger number of QSOs using my original callsign.
