| Biography I was first licenced as G6OUZ in October 1982, becoming G4XDZ in April 1984. I was very active on VHF until the early ‘90s when work got in the way, and I let my licence lapse. The pause was rather longer than planned, but I always knew I would return one day. And so it was that a work colleague rekindled my interest, and I re-activated my licence in February 2019. I mostly work on SSB VHF, currently with 3 elements on 6m, 2 x 9 element LFAs on 2m, and an old 21 element Tonna on 70cms. The main station is recent Kenwood TS-890 for 6m and with my old Mutek transverter for 2m. For portable operation I have a Yaesu 991A, which is also my base radio for 70cms. I have already bumped into some old pals on the air, and although 2m is rather quieter than when I was last active, it is active enough to keep my interest in weak signal working. And in spite of the state of the sunspot cycle, Es on 6m is still exciting. Equipment Kenwood TS-890 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
